Which class should I start with?
Our signature Balance, Burn, Build & Blend classes are each structured in custom intervals to shock our body systems and create real change. Whether you’re interested in improving stability & body control, burning fat, building lean muscle or achieving total body fitness, there’s a SURFSET program for you. If you are training for a surf trip or preparing for ski/snowboard season, a combination of classes will most certainly up your game.
Balance is yoga-inspired, and also functions as a beginner class since it introduces you to all the signature moves, with a slightly slower pace that allows you to familiarize yourself with the board.
Burn is high-intensity & high-tempo. You’ll really get your cardio workout in with this on-the-board HIIT-style training that torches fat and gives your muscles an amazing burn.
Build is focused on strength & definition. We use resistance bands and free-weights in addition to bodyweight exercises to target muscle groups and get your body pumping.
Blend is our interval-based core session that combines the best of each workout, and is a great option for people on the go!
If you’re really nervous about your 1st class though, we run a $10 BEGINNER BALANCE class on the 1st Sunday of each month, a great way to test the waters and get more individual attention. Be sure to register in advance!
What should I wear to class?
Comfortable workout attire that will wick away sweat and heat from your body. SURFSET workouts will push you to your limits, and make you sweat! Itʼs a barefoot workout too, so leave your shoes at the door and hang 10 with us! You may also choose to wear toeless grip socks or studio wraps on your feet, if this is your preference.
I’ve never surfed, will I be okay?
Yes! SURFSET is a surf-inspired full-body workout. By no means do you have to be a surfer in order to receive the benefits the workout will give you. Many of our members have never surfed a day in their lives! No prerequisites necessary, all fitness levels welcome.
What if I am not very fit or have not worked out in a long time?
Don’t worry! The board is adjustable for all levels, even if you have less than ideal balance or are just starting your fitness journey. In our studio, we keep a small number of “Beginner-Friendly” boards available that are more fully inflated than the rest for added stability.
SURFSET was created to inspire people who have become disillusioned or bored by other workouts. So even if it’s been years since you’ve had an exercise program, we promise a fun, adventurous and memorable workout. Don’t forget that our $10 BEGINNER BALANCE class (on the 1st Sunday of each month) is a great option if you’re really nervous about your balance!
Will this class teach me how to surf?
Yes and no. Doing a workout on our RipSurfer X board will mimic a lot of surfing motions (carve, pop-up, duck dive, etc) which will teach your body the muscle memory that is needed while surfing. That being said, surfing is completely a reaction sport; no wave is the same, so simulating the ocean and teaching you how to anticipate a wave is nearly impossible. However, SURFSET is a fitness class first and will tone your body for that long lean surfer look while giving you the skills, core strength, and balance you’ll need on your surfboard when you do decide to visit the ocean! Additionally, we do have instructors with surfing experience who can help coach you on what skills to focus on and develop, as you prepare for your surf trip.
How often should I come to class to see results?
You will start to see a major improvement in your balance and stability within your first 3-5 classes. Stick with it and you’ll soon start to see your body toning up and your muscles becoming more pronounced and defined!
To get the best results we recommend coming to class at least 2-4 times a week, however it really depends on your own personal fitness goals. We offer a variety of classes ranging from yoga-inspired to high intensity so that you can choose the workout you want.
Are reservations required?
Reservations are required and we recommend they be made at least 5 hours before a class (by 8pm the night before for 7am classes), as classes do tend to fill up. If you purchase a single class drop-in, but upon visiting you decide to upgrade to a different package that same day (such as a Multi-Class Pack or our 2-Week Unlimited membership for new members) you’ll just need to cover the difference!
Can I share my membership with someone else?
Our 25-Class Surf Pass can be shared with a family member or significant other. All other passes and memberships are only available to individual members. If you are doing personal training, we offer great rates for 2 people training together.
What is the cancellation policy?
Due to the limited number of available spots in each class, all class cancellations must be made no less than 5 hours prior to the scheduled class time or your class will be forfeit. Purchased classes are non-refundable and non-transferable. Scroll down for more information on our Reservation & Attendance policies.
When will my pass or Gift Certificate expire?
If you purchased a Multi-Class package, it is valid for a full year (12 months) from the date of your first visit using the pass. If you were given a Gift Certificate, it is valid for a full year (12 months) from the date of purchase, however the dollar value remains valid for perpetuity if it has not been used. Unlimited memberships are valid for the duration indicated.
You can reserve your board online, or by calling us at 416-SURFSET (787-3738). You can also reserve a spot on the go using our handy MindBody Connect App, which also syncs to your calendar!
In the event of a cancellation by SURFSET, you will be notified via email. We will notify you of any cancellations between 2-5 hours ahead of time (7am class cancellations will be notified by 9:30pm the night before).
Attendance & Cancellation
Reservations may be cancelled online or using the MINDBODY app, or by calling us at 416-SURFSET (787-3738) at least 5 hours prior to the start of any class. The maximum hold you may place on your pass is no more than the time remaining on your pass. If you wish to cancel your membership after the maximum period, the Contract Cancellation policy (described above) will apply.
